Villa San Rafael is a substantial (350 square metres) and beautifully restored 1930's country villa in Xativa set in large private gardens of one-third of an acre. The property is located near to the mediaeval town of Xativa, 40 minutes drive inland of the coast at Gandia, and easy access to the city of Valencia. The property opens into an impressive hallway with staircase leading to the upper hallway on the first floor with 4 bedrooms and family bathroom leading off. The upper hallway opens on to a large terraced area overlooking the gardens and pool at the front of the house. The ground floor consists of a cloakroom, high specification contemporary kitchen, utility room, dining room and sitting room. The ground floor hallway has panelled doors opening on to a rather grand covered terrace - an ideal place for dining al fresco. The gardens are walled and gated with a large 10 x 5 metres pool and children's play area.

Villa San Rafael is situated in an area known as Bixquert, a beautiful and quiet area surrounded by mountains, which is 2 kilometres outside of the mediaeval town of Xativa. Xativa is an elegant town with an old quarter, boulevards and fountains, a good choice of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. The historic castle built along a mountain ridge is a "must see". Beaches at Tavernes and Gandia are 40 minutes by car and are superb - sandy, clean and stretch for miles. The more touristy resorts of Denia and Javea are a further 20 minutes drive south of Gandia.

We think this characterful property is ideal for a special holiday in semi-rural surroundings and with every possible amenity at hand. Villa San Rafael has totally private gardens, an authentic and grand outside paellero BBQ and a outdoor adventure play area for the kids.

High-specification contemporary kitchen with hob/oven, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer. Adjacent utility room with washing machine. Door to the front terrace, door to the brick-built BBQ area, separate doorways to dining room and sitting room.

The attractive mature gardens are walled and gated and totally private. The pool is large (10 x 5 metres) and is fenced and gated for child safety. There is a children's play area on a lower terrace in front of the house and plenty of room for children to play on the grassed areas. The dining room has dining table and chairs for 8 and the sitting room has comfortable sofa and chairs seating 8 persons, air-conditioning. Satellite TV showing UK terrestrial channels.

Smoking is not permitted inside the house, outside of course is fine.

Towels and linen are included and are changed weekly for stays of 2 weeks plus. Villa San Rafael's housekeeper will meet you on arrival and show you around the property.
Earliest check-in is 5pm (earlier if at all possible), latest check-in is 10pm. Check-out by 10am.
£150 security damages deposit refundable within 10 working days of departure.
We can accept payment by credit card and by UK bank transfer.
A deposit of 25% of rental will secure your booking. Balance of rental plus security damages deposit is payable 8 weeks before arrival.
Any arrival day/departure day is possible (minimum 7 nights rental), subject to fitting in with other bookings in the diary. Part weeks are charged pro rata of the weekly rental rate.- Amenities/Facilities Provided

We've just spent a wonderful 2 weeks at Villa San Rafael with it's spacious accommodation, well equipped kitchen, play area and good sized pool. The children have had lots of fun as there is plenty of room to run around outside when not in the pool. A word of caution to those with small children or those that can't swim - the pool is deep, even in the shallow end. Xativa is a friendly town with lots of local bars and restaurants. The local rail has good services to Valencia and Gandia which are a must. Our only suggestions would be to upgrade the beds in the twin and double room and possibly add some comfortable seating outside. Having said this we could happily have stayed a 3rd week! We had a really great week! The house and surroundings were lovely. The kitchen was large and well stocked, the bathrooms and towels were clean and spacious and everything was generally clean, spacious and lovely. Only tiny suggestions would be to replace some of the beds. My father had no idea what I was talking about as he stayed in the main double bedroom with no issues at all, but my husband and I were in the other double and the bed was very noisy creaky. My sister was in one of the twins and had the same tiny issue with the quality of the beds. But other than that, we would highly recommend this property and would consider going back. Not to mention Xativa and the Valencia area which we loved. Also, FindTheRealSpain.co.uk and Angie and Simon were all really helpful and accommodating and I would definitely use this website if you are planning on renting a villa in Spain. The villa is fantastic! Extremely spacious, luxurious surroundings, completely private and quiet, and with lots for the kids to do (play area, swings etc as well as the pool). Excellent kitchen and living spaces, very much feels like a house the owner has developed to live in rather than as a rental, so very well equipped. Efficient aircon, lovely terraces and loads of sunbathing room. Surprisingly deep pool! Xativa is an excellent town, only 5 minutes by car away, with everything you need, and only 45 minutes from Valencia airport. Highly recommend the 1 hour drive down to Calpe for the best beach resort on the Costas - Matt C., Somerset. September 2009

We loved staying at Villa San Rafael. This is one of the best villa we have stayed in, both in style and equipment/facilities. The rooms are lovely, the bathrooms are great, and the kitchen has absolutely everything you need. The owner is obviously into cooking ;-) and if you are too, then you will enjoy the spacious and brilliantly designed kitchen. The kids enjoyed the play area, the toy-kitchen, and of course, the pool! Xativa is a lovely village with very nice restaurants (we recommend La Maga and Cuinart). We give 4 stars as we missed the traditional "general information" folder, which would have been great, to avoid finding some basics for ourselves. Overall, a fantastic place to spend your holiday.
