great choice for mountain biking and for your walking holidays.
Mountain Biking
Spain has been termed the California of Europe the trails here are
some of the most challenging to be found anywhere in the world. Being just
a few hours from the UK and northern Europe, this is a perfect opportunity
for mountain bikers to travel to Spain, enjoy a villa holiday and get out
and ride. From wide sweeping forestry trails through to technical single
track Mozarabic runs (ancient Moorish trading routes between villages).
The Marina Alta has it all! Apart from the odd shepherd and olive farmer,
you will often see nothing other than awesome views and any wildlife that
may be active. For experienced mountain bikers, these are trails not to be
missed. Just seeing the mountains views from your holiday villa will soon
have you chomping at the bit. For novice riders there are trails with
support vehicle.
Walking
A day out on foot in the mountains is something
to be relished. Peaceful, stunning views amongst olive and almond groves.
In this breathtakingly beautiful limestone landscape, a guided walking day
out can take in old caves, neveras (Moorish ice houses) and ruined
settlements. Drink from ancient wells and fonts fed by fresh mountain
water via underground springs. Take lunch at a picnic spot or a village
bar or restaurant providing tapas and drinks. Walking with a guide ensures
you get the very best access to the countryside. FindTheRealSpain can
co-ordinate the best walking days out in the northern Costa Blanca with
truly experienced guides.
